The Counter
First-time buyers, women, queer and trans folks, people of color, people who've never held a rifle and aren't sure they want to — you're welcome at the counter. We'll answer questions patiently. We'll teach you safe handling. And we won't try to sell you a $4,000 rifle on day one.

In 1857, John Brown ordered a thousand iron pikes from a blacksmith in Collinsville, Connecticut — meant for people the law of the day had decided couldn't be trusted with rifles. We took the name because the underlying question — who, exactly, gets to defend themselves — has never quite been settled.
We are an ordinary shop in most ways. We sell firearms. We file the paperwork. We honor warranties. We just think the right to self-defense doesn't come with a dress code.
